Job Description

IT Project Manager - Leicester 

Reporting to the Head of Development, this role will have responsibility for leading and delivering critical IT projects.
The post holder will have a comprehensive knowledge of Software Development and Infrastructure Project life cycles and Project Management methodologies and techniques.
The IT project Manager will be able to perform a challenging range and variety of complex Project Management (PM) work activities and undertake work which requires the application of fundamental PM.

The key areas that you will be working in will mean that you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Work under broad direction however will be fully accountable for own technical work and/or project/ supervisory responsibilities.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives.
  • Establishes own milestones and project team objectives and delegates responsibilities.
  • Be able to self-initiate work load.
  • Influence customers, suppliers, peers within the projects sphere on the contribution of own specialism.
  • Makes decisions which impact on the success of assigned projects i.e. results, deadlines and budget.
  • Develop business relationships with stakeholders that are often senior managers
  • Perform a challenging range and variety of complex technical or professional work activities. Undertake work which requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts.
  • Understand the relationship between own specialism and wider customer/ organisational requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties of the role incumbent are highlighted below but will vary and flex dependent on business priorities, sometimes outside the scope of the stated bullet points:
  • Drive the planning and execution of the work for specific projects within the overall IT and company strategy change management programme (develop project plans and manage project deliverables)
  • Overall responsibility for managing projects as assigned
  • Developing a plan to achieve the deliverables and then implementing the plan, ensuring that progress is maintained in line with objectives.
  • Utilising resources allocated to be accountable for the successful delivery of the project in terms of time, cost and quality.
  • Responsible for managing project scope, budget, issues, risks and changes.
  • Ensure that the sponsor is accountable for achievement of the defined benefits.
  • Implementing and managing the governance on assigned projects from initiation through to project
  • The Project Manager will build and maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders at all levels
  • The Project Manager will ensure that the rolling project plans are regularly maintained and monitored through the use of regular tracking and scheduling meetings with Project Teams and Steering Groups
  • Responsible for managing the project budgets
  • Responsible for creating cost estimates in relation to potential future projects

Skills and Knowledge: 



  • Be able to communicate issues and change to colleagues in the business
  • Demonstrable experience in a leading PM role
  • Awareness of common IT Service Management frameworks such as ITIL
  • A varied IT related background is desirable showing experience working with technology and with customers at all levels;
  • Experience of Organisational Change Management through running significant change initiatives
  • Experience of Project Management through running complex projects with evidence of budget oversight;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Proficient in Jira
  • Project Management Qualification- Such as Professional project management certification is desirable, such as those compatible with PRINCE2 or PMBOK
  • Master’s or University degree in Information Technology or in a related field


INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE (ideal but not essential)
  • Property Sector; Estate Agent Network, Conveyancing, Finance (mortgages), Residential Property Valuations
