Department Manager – Audio Visual Operations Location: North West England Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 + overtime + benefits

About the Role A growing and highly respected technical production business within the live events industry is seeking an experienced Department Manager – Audio & Vision to lead a busy operational team responsible for the preparation, quality control, and scheduling of professional AV equipment.
This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing day-to-day warehouse and technical operations across Audio and Vision departments, ensuring equipment standards, workflow efficiency, and team performance consistently meet high industry expectations.
You will play a key role in supporting live event delivery standards across a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations across Audio and Vision departments
  • Lead, coordinate, and develop a team of AV prep technicians
  • Oversee equipment preparation, de-prep, testing, and inspection processes
  • Manage scheduling and workload prioritisation using internal systems
  • Ensure high standards of equipment quality, accuracy, and readiness
  • Coordinate turnaround schedules across multiple live projects
  • Maintain strong stock control, consumables, and warehouse organisation
  • Support RF coordination and equipment frequency management where required
  • Work closely with operations and project teams to optimise workflow
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety and operational standards
  • Support wider operational needs during peak periods

About You We are looking for someone already established within the live events, AV hire, or technical production sector, with strong operational and leadership capability.
Essential experience:
  • Background in live events, AV hire, technical production, or event technology
  • Experience managing or supervising teams in a warehouse or operational environment
  • Strong knowledge of professional audio and/or visual equipment
  • Experience in scheduling, planning, or resource coordination
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • IT literate and comfortable working with operational systems
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of RF coordination / PMSE licensing
  • Experience with wireless systems (e.g. Shure Wireless Workbench)
  • Understanding of equipment testing, inspection, and quarantine processes
  • PAT testing awareness or experience
