Tough year, bright future

It is hard to believe it is a year today since I lost my friend and business partner, Jayne, to a sudden illness.

Coupled with a global pandemic, it has been a challenging time to say the least. The business took a decision to remain intact and ride out the storm, providing as much support as possible to the team throughout, and the team pulled together and supported me in return. The impact of Covid and lockdown on GSA and the wider industry is clear and it has been a tough 12 months, but increasing confidence across the economy is visible, and we are seeing a very positive increase in demand across both our contract and permanent recruitment teams. This is only possible when the underlying confidence of businesses across the UK is improving, and many of those businesses know the only way out of this is through investment and growth. The mere suggestion of lockdown easing has had an effect, so it will be great to see the impact of the actual easing of restrictions.

We are all very aware that the hospitality sector has experienced some of the greatest difficulties over the last 12 months, but I have a feeling April may be the busiest they have ever seen. I know that my team and I will be supporting our locals, and we are all looking forward to a beer that’s not straight out of the kitchen fridge! We will all be raising a toast to Jayne and thinking of other loved ones lost.

Finally, I would just like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank my team for their hard work and commitment over recent months. The future is looking brighter.
