Job Description

As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for taking part in the development of an interactive and visual application. This application is a key component of the player experience.

You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of releases that contain new features and defect fixes in an agile environment.

In a well-maintained and suitable QA environment, the QA Engineer works closely with the Team Lead to ensure continuous testing during development.

The successful applicant can execute detailed and analytical tests and convert these tests into automated test suites so that you can migrate to this model. Additionally, they must have an excellent eye for detail outside of documented test cases, and an empathy for users

Responsibilities

• Developing and estimating test plans and test cases both for new requirements and for regression testing
• Selecting appropriate methods of testing based on the requirement, and developing and carrying out those tests
• Contribute to sprint planning with plans and estimates for all testing activities; and to sprint execution by ensuring all activities are kept up to date in Jira
• Documenting defects effectively, with clear information to allow developers to reproduce, where possible, and resolve
• Assisting developers in identifying reproduction steps from defect logs coming from external sources
• Deliver product and feature demonstrations to product owners and other stakeholders
• Manual testing:
o Design, develop and maintain well-structured manual test suites and a manual regression pack
o Perform scripted manual testing as required, and ‘test to break’ exploratory testing
• Carrying out non-functional testing (e.g. load and performance testing) using appropriate tools
• Aiding the migration to automated forms of testing using appropriate tools
• Producing clear and concise test progress and status information – automated where possible
• Contribute to the production of high quality release documentation for all releases exiting the team
• Contributing to the triage of defects, originating both from within and outside the team, by providing clear information to decision makers about likelihood of reproduction, user impact, and steps to recover
• Managing the QA environment professionally, tidily and safely; and the deployment of software to that environment
• Contributing expertise and up-to-date technical knowledge to improve testing processes
• Maintaining a professional approach, building strong relationships with teammates and colleagues from other teams

Required Skills and Experience
• Test analysis
• Manual test script writing
• Manual test execution
• Agile methodology
• 2+ years’ industry experience in a testing role
• Experience of designing and using automated tests
• Testing Windows/.NET applications
• The curiosity and determination required to effectively perform manual exploratory testing
• Experience identifying and assessing performance issues and providing actionable data from appropriate OS tools

Beneficial Experience
• Windows OS testing and monitoring tools experience (e.g. perfmon)
• Experience of test automation in Windows desktop or embedded environment
• Testing gambling applications
• Testing transactional applications
• Testing Java applications
• Other non-Agile methodology such as Waterfall, V-Model, etc
• Gambling industry standard protocols: SAS/G2S
• Understanding of TCP networking technologies
• PC assembly and other hardware experience

 
Educational Experience

• BCS/ ISTQB (ISEB) Certified/Agile/Mobile Tester Foundation Level
• Certification in any relevant technical area
• BCS/ ISTQB (ISEB) Certified Tester Intermediate Level
• Degree level education in technical discipline (min 2.1)
